published: 17-10-2018

On the 6th of October 2016, representatives of the European Commission and the Urban Nodes project, together with experts, will meet in Brussels for the Urban Nodes Concluding Workshop, where the study’s main recommendations will be presented.

Following the increased focus on urban nodes of the TEN-T core network, Panteia and other consultants for DG MOVE have developed a pre-defined assessment tool useful to further improve the performance of transport system in all urban nodes. Also, a set of recommendations on replicating these measures were outlined, allowing urban nodes to remove bottlenecks and missing links on the TEN-T network.

Study on "Improving the efficiency of the transport system in urban nodes of the TEN-T core network"
In order to better develop an efficient transport system, DG MOVE launched a study at identifying cost-effective measures to improve such efficiency. DG MOVE’s consultants have worked on four representative urban nodes: Genoa, Helsinki, Ljubljana and Rotterdam.

The study provides for a pre-defined assessment tool useful to further improve the performance of transport system in all urban nodes. It also outlines a relevant set of recommendations on replicating those identified measures, hence allowing urban nodes to remove bottlenecks and missing links on the TEN-T core network.

On the 6th of October 2016, representatives of the European Commission and urban nodes, together with relevant experts, will meet in Brussels for the Urban Nodes Concluding Workshop, where the study’s main recommendations will be presented.

You are kindly invited to join the Urban Nodes Concluding Workshop on the 6th of October 2016 in Brussels, to learn more about the tested assessment tool and to further discuss recommendations.

The half-day workshop will be held at the POLIS office (Rue du Trône 98, B - 1050 Brussels, Belgium). Detailed travel and accommodation information can be found here and here. The workshop programme will be made available during September.

The event is free of charge, however prior registration is required. If you would like to participate or have further questions, please contact Susanne Boehler-Baedeker at S.Boehler@rupprecht-consult.eu  and Ana-Maria Baston at a.baston@rupprecht-consult.eu by the 23rd of September 2016.
